  New Dumaguete (Bacong) international airport in pre-construction

  The ₱17B Korea EXIM-funded New Dumaguete Airport in Bacong (2.45M annual passenger capacity) is in land acquisition and design procurement, with design-and-build targeted to start December 2026 and operations from about 2031 (DOTr).

  North–South Commuter Railway targets first partial operations in 2027

  DOTr targets partial operations of the NSCR's Valenzuela–Malolos segment in December 2027, with the Malolos–Clark phase following in 2028 (as of early-2026 statements). The 147 km line will link Clark, Metro Manila, and Calamba.

  Panay–Guimaras–Negros bridge start pushed to about mid-2027

  Major works on the PGN link bridge will no longer start in 2026: engineers found stable seabed foundations at 50–60 m depth — nearly double earlier estimates. Segment A (Panay–Guimaras) design is ~94% complete. The project continues, later than announced.

  Samal Island–Davao City Connector bridge is 61% complete

  DPWH reported the 4.76 km toll-free bridge at 61% completion as of June 2026, with the completion target moved from August 2027 to September 2028 (and a possible extension to 2030 flagged over funding). Once open, the Davao–Samal crossing drops from a 30–50 minute ferry to about five minutes.

  The 174-hectare Dumaguete coastal reclamation is deferred, not cancelled

  The ₱23B 'Smart City' reclamation of Dumaguete's coast was deferred in 2021 after strong community and scientific opposition; the city mayor has said it may still be pursued 'at the proper time.' A standing land-use uncertainty for coastal areas of the city.
